First I just want to give a big thank you to everyone who played Absorb and gave me feedback, can’t express how much it means! I got a healthy amount of compliments and criticisms which are invaluable.

On to this weeks update. As I’m sure you know if you’ve played there are still a lot of bugs to be ironed out so that has been most of my focus. Here are some of the things I’ve addressed:

  • Players no longer shake/lag after reaching a certain size
  • Fixed a small issue with the auto camera pitch
  • Fixed food spawning in mid air
  • Fixed players being eaten multiple times before dying (hopefully fixed, needs testing)
  • Changed font for chat and player names so they’re more readable

It hasn’t all been fixing bugs though, I’ve also started working on a new map called Zig Zag. All the assets in the map are of course very rough and placeholder, I’m still just trying to see what works and what doesn’t so no sense in polishing anything. This is the biggest map I’ve made so far and should support a decent amount of players. Since everything is still so rough I intend to iterate a lot based on play testing and player feedback, so look for updates in the future.

I’ve also made some small tweaks to food. There are now two types of food, the regular food which you all know and love and big food which you guessed it gives you more mass than regular food. I think this will create some interesting moments where two players will race each other to reach the big food first and also just makes the process of rolling around the map and eating more interesting.
